The Ford Bronco is known for its rugged off-road capabilities. If you own one, you know that a hyper-capable wheelbase also comes with certain challenges. When you're planning to use your Bronco for taking to the trails - that requires a lot of gear. You might be racking your brain trying to figure out where to keep everything you need, but there are many ways to make it more functional and efficient when it comes to storage. Stick around, and we'll get into our favorite ways to get all your gear on the road or trail with you - safe and secure.
INSTALL A ROOF RACK
A roof rack is a great addition to any vehicle that needs extra cargo space. A roof rack for your Ford Bronco can be used to carry anything from RotopaX cans of fuel and extra water to rooftop cargo boxes. Roof racks come in many different styles and model specific sizes, so it's important to choose one that fits your Bronco properly. You’ll want to think ahead when it comes to this purchase - consider how much weight you'll be carrying and what type of cargo you'll be hauling when selecting a roof rack.
Our favorite for the Bronco is the Wingbar Line from Thule. Since it’s rated to 165 pounds, it’s got the load capacity for whatever you might want to toss up top, and the modular design doesn’t mean it’s tough to store or pop on and off.
One last consideration here: how accessible is your roof? You’ll see people on the road or trail carrying a spare, full-size tire up there. It’s not necessarily a bad idea - but other, more easily moved things might make sense for that spot. It’s also a good time to think about adding a ladder, or thinking about how often you’ll need to take things on and off your roof. On a week or longer trip, you might get tired of lugging everyday essentials up and down, day in and day out. To make it easier to access your rooftop cargo, add a set of our IAG I-Line EZ-Steps for easier access.
USE CARGO DRAWERS
If you're looking for a way to keep your cargo organized and protected from the elements, a set of Cargo Drawers from ARB is a great option. While some are universal options, and come in a range of shapes and sizes, these are model specific and will fit like a glove in your Bronco. They're ideal for carrying items that you want to keep dry, organized, and handy - like tents or kitchen gear.
If you’ve thought about adding a fridge to your rig like the ones from ARB, you’ll want to keep that in mind when you’re choosing a drawer system. Options like the ARB Roller Floor will give you easy access to your food and drinks, without impacting the cargo drawer setup of your dreams.
USE IAG I-LINE MOLLE PANELS
Our complete line of I-Line MOLLE Panels (and compatible storage solutions) can help you maximize handy storage space in places you didn’t even know you needed. Seat back panels, dash mounts, armrest organizers, and more will help you find a place for everything, small or large. Combine them with our line of storage bags for easy ways to keep track of tools, flashlights and more. Need to figure out how to mount something specific? We’re happy to help.
ADD A HITCH CARRIER FOR EXTRA FUN
A hitch-mounted carrier is a great accessory if you need to take large items along for a ride (say, maybe mountain bikes?) that won't fit inside your Bronco. They're designed to fit onto the hitch of your Bronco, and will free up room on the roof for your camping gear. Options like the Thule Camber are a great choice - they're easy to attach and remove when not in use, and offer enough space for you and your crew to load up for time on the trails - whether you’re in for the adventure on two wheels or four.
When you don’t necessarily need that rooftop space for camping gear, you’ll still be glad to have your bike easily accessible, rather than having to worry about removing wheels or getting your bike back up on top of the truck after an exhausting day of single-track.
If you don’t have a hitch already, we can talk you through what you need to get the job done. Once you’ve got one installed, the options are endless, and don’t have to be limited to trailers. Swap out a bike rack for a cargo rack, extra table space and more.
Whether you’re looking forward to weeks at a time on the trails, or you just want to get the most out of your new grocery-getter, the Ford Bronco is a great choice, and the complete line of IAG Bronco Storage Accessories can get you all the style and function you want.
